Meet Melissa

My name is Melissa, and this shop carries my name because it carries most of my life as well. I have loved beautiful clothes for as long as I can remember, long before I ever thought of selling them. As a girl I would go through my mother's wardrobe and try on things that were far too big for me, just to see how they felt. That feeling never really left me. Years later, after working for other people and other brands, I decided it was time to do it my own way. I wanted a place where the clothes were chosen with care, one piece at a time, by someone who actually wears them. Melissa Melbourne started small, with a handful of pieces and a lot of hope. I still remember how nervous I was on the first day, wondering whether anyone would come at all. They did, and they kept coming back, and that is really the whole story.

What we stand for

Our shop is a place for women who like easy, feminine and timeless styles. Nothing complicated, nothing over the top. Just lovely pieces you can wear day to day, to lunch, to dinner, on holiday or wherever life takes you. I choose every item myself, and I ask the same question each time: would I be happy to wear this? If the answer is no, it does not go on the rack. Fashion should never make you feel like you are trying too hard, or like you have to be someone else to wear it. The right piece should feel like it was already yours before you found it. That is what I look for, and it is what I hope you find here.

I never take it for granted that you chose to shop with us. Every order, every message, every woman who tells a friend about this little shop means more to me than I can put into words. Some of you have been with us since the very beginning, and some of you have only just arrived, and you are equally welcome. My hope is that you leave here with something you love and a little bit of a smile. As long as that keeps happening, I have no plans to stop. I would like to be doing this for many years to come, still choosing pieces by hand, still packing them with care. Thank you for being part of it.
